A little about me.

After a brief experience of a Shaolin Kungfu derivative at the age of 11 I really started Taiji at the age of 15 with John Kells in central London. It was a magical discovery for me and changed my life.

Soon after I finished University I went to Taiwan to study there at the beginning of 1991. I met some exceptional Taiji teachers, and my Bagua teacher Luo Dexiu. I returned to the UK in 1994, and moved to Paris in 2001 where I’m the proud teacher of some lovely students, and the prouder father of a superb daughter!

I doubt you are here to read about my family though – so back to martial arts and what I love to share through them.

Movement is amazing, we do nothing without physical, from breathing to performing and Bagua is rich in techniques to investigate, and optimise these. At its best martial arts link health, with mental development, with social interaction, deep insight with some joyful experience. For me Bagua is martial art at its best. It is logical and transcends logic, it includes basic animal instincts of survival and our uniquely human ones of acceptance and exaltation.

I really look forward to have the chance to share my enthusiasm for Bagua with you, whether that involves explaining the keys to a technique, encouraging you to keep going and discover you can do something you thought you could not, watching you make friends in class, enjoying a state of deep peace, or fluid grace or playfully testing your partners skills.

The ocean of martial arts is vast, and Bagua is the ideal beach. Jump in the water’s lovely!

If this is not enough for you there is a whole interview here.
